Designing a Postcapitalist Practice

Capitalism permeates all that we do, to the point that we can not comprehend a world without it. We are living in a monoculture. And much like ecologies lacking diversity, we are susceptible to collapse.

This is the motivation for our visual essay, Designing a Postcapitalist Practice. We question our relationship to our work and explore more fair power structures such as unions, cooperatives, and collectives. The hope in circulating this essay is to contribute to the discussion amongst design workers, and together build a resilient postcapitalist ecosystem.

We Think Forward, with Insight from the Past and Urgency from the Present.

FWD is a climate protagonist working to restore the native habitat resonant with both past memory and future needs. We work with those most impacted by climate change as we see environmental justice as social justice.

We Pay It Forward to Future Generations

FWD established a neighborhood-based, worker-owned design cooperative that builds trust and relationships with local organizations and communities by engaging them as equal design partners.
