“It’s an artist’s duty to reflect the times in which we live.”

- Nina Simone

The Nina Simone Childhood Home

The National Trust for Historic Preservation and it’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund are in the process of restoring and preserving the Nina Simone Childhood Home. This work has been supported by the local community who shared their knowledge and ideas for visioning for the future of the historical site.

The design team translated the community vision into sharable graphics to communicate the wishes of the local residents and the broader fanbase. The community’s first concept is to preserve the house, maintaining its authenticity, keeping all support buildings offsite. The second concept expands the structure to provide spaces for artist residencies and modern amenities. Both concepts have been publicized and shared with the Trust’s following.
